What We Do

Creating Opportunities. Strengthening Communities.

Aashray works with children, families, migrant and labour communities to create safer environments, improve access to education and essential services, and strengthen people’s ability to build secure and dignified futures.

Our work is centred around three interconnected areas — Child Care & Development, Education, and Migration & Labour Welfare.

Through community-based programmes, direct support, awareness, capacity building and collaboration with institutions and government systems, we work to address the challenges faced by children and vulnerable communities.

Our programmes are designed to respond to practical needs while promoting care, protection, dignity, participation, inclusion and long-term empowerment.

Community Development

Hyderabad is a rapidly growing urban centre that attracts migrant workers and families seeking employment and better livelihood opportunities. Many low-income and migrant families live in slums and other marginalised settlements, where they may experience insecure employment, inadequate housing, poor sanitation, limited access to education and healthcare, and challenges in accessing social security and government services. Children in these communities are particularly vulnerable to school dropout, child labour, neglect, abuse and other protection risks.
In response to these challenges, AASHRAY has worked across 25 urban marginalised communities, 50+ rural habitations and more than 40 ADDAs (labour choks) to strengthen families and communities, improve access to essential services, sanitation and civic amenities, promote child care and protection, and build safer, healthier and more resilient communities for sustainable development.

Aashray’ is a Sanskrit word, which means ‘provide temporary protection or shelter in critical circumstances and any situations.
